Temporary Visitor Policies During COVID-19

To keep our patients and hospital staff safe and to help stop the spread of COVID-19, Grand Island Regional Medical Center has established visitor restrictions during this time.

Visitor access to the facility is limited to the front door, which is located on the west side of the facility. There will be signage at all entries reminding visitors of that access point.

After-hours visitors must use the Emergency Department entrance on the west side of the facility.

All visitors will be screened for COVID-19 upon entry. Visitors who do not pass the screening are not permitted to enter the facility. Visitors who pass the screening will be expected to adhere to the following:

  • Visitors are limited to two designated family members or representatives for non-COVID patients. All visitors and representatives must be age 19 or older. This means only two family members/representatives may be designated for the entire length of the hospital stay. The designated family members/representatives may not change during the duration of the patient’s hospitalization.
  • Visitors who pass the screening must wear a cloth face covering or face mask as well as a visitor badge while in the facility for the duration of their visit.
  • Visitors must remain in the area(s) consistent with their purpose for being in the facility, and not go to other areas of the facility. No visitors are allowed in COVID-19 care areas.
  • Visitors are to leave the facility immediately upon conclusion of the visit.
  • Visitation to vulnerable patient populations (e.g. immunocompromised, elderly with underlying medical conditions, etc.) are allowed only for medically necessary or care purposes.

Patients with a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 may not receive visitors. We understand this is very difficult for you. It is also difficult for us too. This is necessary to limit exposure to families and community spread of the virus.

We understand the concern you have for your loved one and are committed to keeping you informed. During your loved ones stay we will gather the necessary information to communicate with you regarding your loved one.

  • Labor and Delivery – one designated support person, one labor doula
  • Postpartum – one designated support person
  • NICU – two parents/guardians
  • Pediatrics – two parents/guardians

  • ONE accompanying adult/visitor may be present with the patient during their visit.

We appreciate your cooperation. For specific requests or questions, please call (308) 675-5000.
